Book Review – The Five Rules for Successful Stock Investing by Pat Dorsey

My Amazon Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

This book was really the basis for all my original stock research and investing – and the information provided is extremely useful and timeless.  The five rules are:

  1. Do your homework.
  2. Find economic moats.
  3. Have a margin of safety.
  4. Hold for the long haul.
  5. Know when to sell.

Pat Dorsey and Morningstar are advocates of long-term investing, so this book’s intended audience is value investors. This book helped me build my most important screen for identifying companies I would want to own – so I can have confidence when I sell cash secured puts for income.
